Term 3 Week 1

What a week! We have enjoyed listening to details of everyone's holiday adventures. It certainly sounds like a lot of fun was had by all!
We wrote about our holidays in an acrostic poem.

Room 21 has taken a special interest in learning about sharks. We have learnt that sharks are unique creatures and we need to look after them by ensuring our rubbish goes into bins and not into our oceans. Next week at Koru Assembly we will celebrate our learning. Here is a photo of Room 21 practising our Shark song for assembly.

We welcome Tom Shi from China who is joining Room 21 for the next 5 weeks. We are enjoying getting to know him and how life for children in China is different from those in New Zealand.
Welcome Tom!

  1. I am so pleased that you are learning about sharks. They are such unique creatures and we do need to look after them by ensuring our rubbish goes into bins and not into our oceans. They have got an unfair bad reputation. Did you know that an estimated 100 million sharks are killed every year around the world. This number far exceeds what many populations need to recover - so that means if we keep killing them at this rate some species will eventually become extinct. so for every human killed by a shark, humans kill approximately two million sharks

  2. Welcome back to Term 3, Room 21. It was great to see you taking an interest in sharks. Have you read the Great White Man Eating Shark by Margaret Mahy? It is one of my favourites. Have a look for it in the library.
